GIMPshop for Creating Headers and Website Images

Here at Discouraged Blogger, it is our intention to show you how to build a quality website, using the finest of technology.  Low cost tools are fine, but free is even better.  But functionality should never be sacrificed for cost. I opted to use PaintShop Pro instead of Photoshop because of cost considerations and the fact that PaintShop Pro had all the functionality I needed

Now along comes GIMPshop.  Actually Gimp, upon which GIMPshop is based has been around for awhile, but we had just not been introduced.  I have downloaded GIMPshop and plan to use it on other computers I use to avoid purchasing additional copies of PaintShop Pro.

GIMPshop is a free Open Source image editor that is similar to the popular Adobe Photoshop. Specifically GIMPShop is a version of the GIMP that has been edited by Scott Moschella to be more user-friendly for Photoshop users.

The program may be freely downloaded at PC World.  Try it out, before you purchase anything else. According to PC World:

Gimpshop is an exceedingly powerful Photoshop lookalike that has far more features than you, or most people you know, will ever use. If you're looking to do something as simple as touch up photos, or something far more sophisticated, like work in multiple layers, it has the tools you need.

As with any software, there is a learning curve, but I think this is one that you will not want to be without.
